Northern Lights Learning Center: Professional, Affordable Tutoring

Education is the key to success! If your child is working below grade level or lacking the confidence and skills necessary to succeed in school, Northern Lights Learning Center is your solution. We offer personalized tutoring programs in a variety of core subjects for all students, K-Adult. As well, we provide extensive programming for Special Education, At-Risk students, ADD and ADHD students.

Certified and experienced, we utilize both formal and informal testing methods, personalized programming and a multi-sensory approach that keeps the student as the primary focus and assists in raising both marks and confidence. A graduate from the University of Alberta, Linda Scharf holds a Bachelor of Education Degree with a major in Special Education. She is permanently certified, with over 28 years of teaching experience, 17 of these as the owner of Northern Lights Learning Center.

We assess your child using both formal and informal testing methods in order to determine the exact concepts and strands they are lacking. This establishes 3 separate working levels for the students: independent, instructional and frustration.

Using these test results, we implement an individualized educational program (IEP) in order to teach the missed strands and concepts at their instructional level.

Each of the missed concepts is taught according to their IEP and follows Provincial Curriculum Standards, providing them with the opportunity to succeed immediately and advance in grade level.
