How Berquist Insurance Got Started

The agency was started in 1969 in New Richmond, Wisconsin.  Richard Berquist started from scratch as a direct writer for American Family Insurance Company. The first office was located in his residence in an upstairs bedroom. It was later moved to a basement office due to the growth of the agency. Then in 1979, it was moved to its present location. In 1990, Dick decided to switch from being a direct writer to being an independent agent. This allowed the advantage to represent many different insurance companies to provide many more options to customers.  Dick's son, Craig, joined the agency team in 1992. He continues the valued relationships his father built with customers along with developing new ones.
