Swedish/Relaxation Massage This style of massage is exactly that, relaxing! Long, flowing strokes are used to help reduce pain, improve joint stiffness, increase circulation and give a sense of well-being. Deep Tissue Massage Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve the extra tension in your muscles and the connective tissue. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. I recommend Deep Tissue techniques for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and clients who have sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue work to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two but this is lessened with increasing your water intake. Deep tissue work can vary greatly. What one may call deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work, I will communicate with you to be sure that my pressure is appropriate. Hot Stone Massage A stone massage uses water-heated stones to apply pressure and heat to the body. Stones coated in organic oil are used to deliver amazing massage strokes. The hot stones I use are basalt stones which over time, have become extremely polished and smooth. The stones heat deeply penetrates into the muscles, releasing tension and allowing a deep relaxation. Pregnancy Massage Massage is both effective and safe prenatally and during labor and postpartum periods of a woman’s pregnancy. Prenatally, after the 1st trimester, massage can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Skilled, appropriate touch facilitates labor, shortening labor times and easing pain and anxiety. In the postpartum period, massage can help to rebalance structure, physiology, and emotions of the new mother and may help her to bond with and care for her infant. Orthopedic/Sports Massage Combining some elements of sports and medical massage, orthopedic massage integrates ten modalities to treat soft-tissue pain and injury. Emphasis is placed on understanding both the injury and its rehabilitation criteria. Three basic elements adhered to, despite the technical diversity in treatment, are assessment, matching the treatment to the injury, and adaptability of treatment. Corporate Event Chair Massage Called seated massage, chair massage, or on-site massage, I will bring a specially designed massage chair to your office or event in which your employees can sit comfortably. Chair massage is provided to the fully clothed person in a variety of settings. Providing massage for employees has been shown to reduce sick time and to improve productivity. After massage, EEG patterns indicate enhanced performance and alertness on mathematical computations, perhaps because of decreased stress hormones. Please contact me for more information. |
