FLOORS

As previously mentioned my goal is to provide the highest quality of installation.  That begins with the base of the floor to be installed.  In New Home Construction the seams of the floors are ground down where applicable to insure the flattest floor possible.  After removal of an old floor in an existing home the subfloor is inspected and replaced as necessary.All floors (except concrete basements) are installed over 1/4″ HardieBacker board following all manufacturers specifications.  Tile is then installed in accordance with the need of the tile.  Larger size tiles and natural stones require larger trowels to be used.  This is a consideration often left out by other installers because it creates more work and materials for the installer. Prior to tile order grout selection is discussed and the homeowner is made aware of the different products and costs available to them.  Not all options are available for all tile.  All homeowners are suggested to have some type of sealer applied to the grout in order to protect against dirt and stains.  Grouts are available with stain-resistent additives but are not to be used with all tile.  Also, with these grouts the method and cure time is different.  Many other installers improperly install these products to save time and money depriving the homeowner of the full benifit of the product.  With SPS Tile this concern is eliminated.

BACKSPLASHES

Of all the places that tile gets installed the kitchen tile is seen the most.  When friends and family are over everyone seems to gather in the kitchen.  Why not have it be your most impressive installation.  From simple to highly intricate patterns, clean cuts and tight fitting corners along with thought out placement of design pieces, contribute to the focal point of your gathering space.  We will discuss the patterns and designs that are best suited to your individual space and taste prior to selecting the tile.  There are many obstacles to limit the placement of decorative pieces. Outlets, coffee pots, toasters, spoon holders, and sometimes much more need to be thought around in order not to waste space or money, while ensuring there is no compromising the most important aspect, the overall design.  Once again form and function are a major concern.  The point of the backsplash is to keep the walls clean around your countertop and cooking area.  Many red sauce and bacon lovers know what I mean.  After all selecting a backsplash that WOW’S the friends and family and leave you to endlessly scrubbing after every meal can easily eat away (pardon the pun) at your enjoyment of your new backsplash.

SHOWERS AND TUB SURROUNDS

Showers and tub surrounds become a personal escape for many people.  It is where the day is prepared for and the tension is released after a hard day of work.  It can also be the source of a lot of headaches and bills if not installed properly. Small amounts of water seeping behind your walls through cracks and crevices not only affect the integrity of your shower area but can lead to leaks that continue throughout the rest of your home- also known as your largest investment.  Many installers cut corners in these areas because very rarely is the effect seen immediately.  They will often say that they have “never had a problem” leaving out waterproofing membranes that act as a second barrier against water seepage.  With these membranes installed in the right areas, your home is better protected in the long run.  Homes are built of a combination of many materials,the major component being wood.  Wood naturally shrinks and expands with exterior and interior temperature changes. These movements over time cause shifting and settling of the home. Those movements cause the small cracks to form over time in your grout joints, corners, and meetings of different materials like your tile and tub.  When water seeps into these areas damages can range from noticeable leaks to undetectable growth of mold and mildew behind your walls and under your floors.  With SPS TIle Installations the longevity durability of your wet areas are addressed to a much higher level.  It is a belief of this company that advances in technology are made to combat these issues.  However, they are useless if they remain on the shelves and techniques and instructions are not followed.
