During the Renaissance, kings and lords kept their wealth in their homes. Their assets were tapestries, furnishings, jewels, and gold. There were no banks, brokerage firms, or insurance companies where people could store and protect their assets. Obviously, keeping such wealth around invited marauding raiders who would sweep down, plunder, and pillage their homes. So, they constructed large fortifications around their homes that were manned by knights, armed with all kinds of weaponry. They also dug moats with drawbridges to protect their assets. Today, although we have banks, brokerage firms, and insurance companies in which we can invest our assets, we have different kinds of raiders that invade our wealth. These raiders are taxes, inflation, lawsuits, disability, and death. Any of them can lay waste to our financial plan if we haven't built the proper protection around our assets. My aim is to aid you in pursuing these assets, while at the same time ensuring that you have built a "Fortress" that can withstand any of the wealth-eroding forces that may arise during your lifetime. In this way you can strive to achieve financial peace of mind and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
