Schuitema Moving, LLC got its start back in 1932 as Warner-Schuitema Moving & Storage. It was founded by Henry Schuitema and partner, Mr. Elmer E.  Warner. They set up shop at 327 East Laketon Avenue in beautiful Muskegon, MI.

In 1946, Warner-Schuitema Moving & Storage became one of the first agency affiliates with North American Van Lines. This expanded the company’s reach and fleet which led to more moves in more areas and unprecedented growth for this small family owned company. Since becoming a North American Agent, Warner-Schuitema Moving & Storage received numerous prestigious awards due to growth and customer service.

In 1971, Sherwood and Max Schuitema took over their Father’s business. They continued to win these prestigious awards from North American, they continued their growth, and customer satisfaction was very clear. They remained in the office on Laketon, and had many return customers. Some, they recognized, from moving their parents and grandparents before them!

Sadly, in November of 2011, Max Schuitema passed, and a decision had to be made about the family business that had served this community and beyond for almost eight decades. The Schuitema family pulled together and ran the business as closely to Grandpa Henry’s model as possible. Again, customer service was impeccable.

In June of 2014, Warner-Schuitema Moving & Storage closed its doors for the last time, and Schuitema Moving, LLC came to life. Sherri Schuitema-VanderWier decided to carry on the legacy of her family. The trusted name in moving for almost a century is a Muskegon staple! Here we are, thriving, and enjoying the ability to serve our hometown of West Michigan with the best customer service. We are a fresher perspective on the moving game, and we are excited to continue our growth within the industry and keep our family name alive in West Michigan and beyond.
