North Central Mechanical Services From his home's basement to a 36,000-square-foot building, Nathan Bartels has come a long way in his business, North Central Mechanical Services. He moved the business into the bigger space, located at 2601 15th Street S.W., Mason City, in the fall of 2017. About half of the building is for product storage while the other half is for sheet metal fabrication. Offices are being built and are expected to be completed by the spring of 2018 and a sign will be added to the outside of the building, which is located across the street from Ryder. Bartels started the business about 3 ½ years ago after deciding that he wanted his own business. Offering heating and cooling, mechanical contracting, custom sheet metal work, custom duct work and other services, North Central Mechanical Services has grown steadily over the years. He employs 10 people and plans to add five or six more workers over the next three or so years, Bartels said. “Attention to detail and dedication to work” have made his business successful, he said, adding that he has good employees. Many of his employees have been hired out of North Iowa Area Community College's heating and air conditioning technology program. He serves on the program's advisory board. The sheet metal fabrication keeps the business especially busy. Bartels said he is aware of just one other Mason City business that offers the service. “We do new construction and remodels and retrofits,” he said. Bartels said his company does business within a 100-mile radius of Mason City but “will go anywhere they're willing to pay us.” For more information visit our website or call 641-424-4828. |
