Our History

Since first opening its doors in 1996, Planters Bank has made a name for itself as an energetic player in the financial services market. Contributing to our success is the ability to leverage the flexibility associated with being locally owned and operated with a strong focus on service.

Today, Planters Bank has 12 full-service locations serving Hopkinsville and Western Kentucky, as well as Clarksville, Tennessee. The bank's Main Street office in Hopkinsville is in the Dillard-Campbell House, which was built in 1849 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Dillard-Campbell House

The Dillard-Campbell, or "Gunboat Dillard" House is located at Main and 14th streets in downtown Hopkinsville and is the oldest structure operating as a business in the city.

It was built in 1849 by Dutch carpenter Dan Umbenhour for Robert Dillard using plans drawn by Minard LaFever.

The building had the unique distinction of being headquarters (at separate times, of course) for both Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War. It was owned by Daniel M. Taylor and the Campbell and Green families until Gordon Cayce Antiques and Gifts opened there in 1950. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
