G. Scott Calcutt, CFP, CLU, ChFC, CPCA
I grew up on my family’s seed farm at Lemberg, Sask. With young parents, I was not in a position to take over the farm for many years. So I became a financial planner, becoming a specialist in comprehensive retirement, investment, estate, and tax planning for farmers and small business owners. Now in my 28th year in this career, farming is behind me, but I enjoy working with farm families on their business management and succession issues.
I started financial planning in 1990 with Yeager & Associates in Saskatoon, which merged with Independent Financial Services in June 1995. My particular expertise is in life insurance products and its many estate & investment planning applications, plus dealing with the soft issues in transferring businesses to the next generation. The challenge is to teach clients where to start and where to stop.
As a Senior Associate with Independent Financial Services Ltd., I have attained my Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and CPCA designations over the years.
I have two great grown-up children, Stephanie and Kristopher. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, golfing, fishing, playing cards, and being involved with the Regina Thunder, Regina Minor Football, and the Regina Capital Cosmopolitan Club.
