John Mortimer Pike Babb, Q.C.

John M. P. Babb was educated at St. Paul's Elementary and High Schools Harbour Grace before attending Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, where he graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, major in Political Science, minor in Business and a Certificate in Criminology. He then studied at the University of New Brunswick at Frederiction, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws Degree and was admitted to the Newfoundland Bar in 1986.

Mr. Babb worked as a legal researcher for the Chief Coroner of New Brunsick, articled with Chalker and Co. and after admission to the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar engaged in private practice, appearing in all levels of court in Newfoundland and Labrador before becoming the Avalon Regional Crown Attorney in 1986. He re-entered private practice in 1988 and in 1989 commenced private practice in Carbonear, Conception Bay North, where he continues to practice law with extensive expertise and experience in personal injury and accident law and a wide variety of other civil litigation matters, real estate and mortgages, residential and commercial fishing, wills and estates, corporate and commercial law.

Mr. Babb has served on numerous boards, committees and voluntary groups. He is an active member of the Kiwanis Club and has served terms as Secretary and Vice President of the Carbonear Chapter and President of the Carbonear and Provincial Music Associations. He was Vice-Chancellor of the Anglican Church of Canada, Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador, serving from 1999-2011. Mr. Babb is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Atlantic Trial Lawyers Association and a past member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of North America. Mr. Babb was appointed to the Queen's Counsel in October 2005. Mr. Babb is an appointed member of the Human Rights Commission Panel of Adjudicators and was the President of the PC Party of Newfoundland and Labrador from 2003-2012.

Mr. Babb and his wife of 32 years, Genevieve, reside in Carbonear. They have two grown children, Andrew and Jessica.

Jessica Margaret Babb, B.A., J.D.

Jessica Babb was educated at Davis Elementary in Carbonear and King's Edgehill School in Windsor, Nova Scotia, before attending Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, where she graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, major in Political Science, minor in English and a Certificate in Criminology. She then studied at The University of New Brunswick where she earned a Juris Doctor Degree and was admitted to the Newfoundland Bar in 2013.

Ms. Babb worked as a student with the Provincial Crown Attorney's Office in St. John's in 2008 and 2009 and Articled at Babb Law Office. Upon admission to the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar, Ms. Babb joined her father as a Barrister, Solicitor and Notary Public to continue on with his tradition of excellence in legal representation since 1986.

Ms. Babb and her fiance Bill Dooley reside in their hometown, Carbonear. She is actively involved and takes great pride in her community.
