Palmetto Solar Pros

Palmetto SolarPros is founded and operated by Tommy Wood, a mechanical engineer with 17 years of experience installing solar thermal collectors. For the last eight years, Tommy has wanted to transition into photovoltaic (PV) installations, but never felt that solar energy could be justified financially...Until now. In 2014, South Carolina and state utility companies developed financial incentives to promote personal solar energy collection. PV prices have dropped dramatically over the past few years, and both the Federal and State government have implemented generous tax credits for renewable energy installations — making 2015 the ideal time to go solar in South Carolina. In fact, prospective solar customers need to have a sense of urgency because the Federal tax incentives are set to expire at the end of 2016. Tommy’s fresh approach to solar energy provides great benefits to Palmetto SolarPros customers. All designs are created by the owner, a mechanical/electrical engineer, who will inspect and commission each installation. In fact, he installs many of our systems. After much research, Tommy has decided to build his business around two brands: SolarWorld and SolarEdge. The benefits of SolarWorld are solar panels that are built in the USA by a company who has been doing it for 40 years - try to find another company who has been in business longer than their warranty. Additionally, the SolarEdge inverters allow each panel to harvest more energy than the aging technology of string inverters or the less efficient micro-inverters. This combination of technologies and commitment gives our customers maximum energy harvest for their investment.
